Classes

Students with still life

Weekly classes and workshops with Anne-Marie are available in a range of media and techniques, for beginners and those with more experience. Please click here for a list of current times and course fees.

Topics covered include colour, line, mark making, tone, texture and mixed media, primarily in acrylics. As students gain more confidence and experience, the use of watercolours and oils are introduced. Still Life, landscape and seascape are the major themes.

Group sizes are small, with a maximum of six students per session. This allows for valuable one to one teaching, and also enables students to develop at their own pace.

Through initial demonstration, Anne-Marie takes her students through a range of drawing and painting approaches, looking at artists both traditional and contemporary in order to inform and develop individual work.

Location drawing and painting feature largely as a starting point, with photography also encouraged for reference. Sketches and studies are then developed in the studio.

Student on location at Chesil Beach

Students have access to Anne-Marie's extensive library of literature, magazines and periodicals throughout the courses.

Classes are taught in a comfortable, well-lit studio, and all course fees include refreshments and basic materials (drawing paper, pencils, charcoal, fixative, masking tape, kitchen roll, water pots, drawing boards and easels).

Prospective students are sent an initial materials list and as the course progresses, advice is given on additional materials to acquire.

Workshops are held one Saturday each month, and include mark-making, printmaking, and mixed media.

Please enquire for programme details.
