Anne-Marie Kelly lives in Dorset, southwest England, where she works from her studio on the beautiful Isle of Portland. Her work is an intimate and personal response to the surging energies of the dramatic Jurassic coastline, referencing the timeless rocky outcrops, and the powerful shifts in the seasons, colours and textures of the Dorset landscape.
The sea has been a constant and profound source of inspiration for the artist. Prior to 1997, Anne-Marie lived in Limassol, Cyprus, where she worked as an artist, illustrator and lecturer. The influence of the Mediterranean Sea and culture is evident in her work during this period.
Anne-Marie Kelly works in mixed media, combining layers of plaster, acrylic/oil glazes and raw pigments, with the occasional use of iridescents and golds, an influence from the highly decorative icon paintings of Cyprus.
